Stonewashed Linen

Stonewashing is an industrial process to soften fabrics that are stiff and rigid. The big washing machine literally use stones to beat up the fabrics, the best known are stone washed denim and linen.

Stonewashed denim we know from our jeans, but when linen is given the treatment, it has this marvelous soft, flexible and a worn feeling to it. The fabric looks like you have had it for years.

Bodie and Fou has a beautiful stonewashed linen table cloth that your dishes will look fabulous on and a linen throw to cover you up on your sofa and adds a dash of color.

A Luscious Blue

There is a very luscious blue linen duvet in the new SS13 catalog of Bodie and Fou. I saw this preview that was posted on Pinterest today. A beautiful picture, charming shot of the camera on the tripod, but the blue, that beautiful blue that seems to sing, that has the quality of cobalt blue coming out of the tube, deeply dyed into linen. Getting into a bed with that color and fabric would be like going to heaven each night.

The photo and styling is by Francois and Karine at Bodie and Fou.

Greige

Greige is a color between gray and beige. It is an easy color to live with, it is more calm than stimulating so it makes very good living rooms and bedrooms. It is has an air of sophistication, not choosing a subjective color. However because of its neutrality any color will look very good next to it. Yellow is particularly good, pink definitely, black is striking and red enriches it. We see it with a touch of orange often.

Which style does it suit; almost always with a faded chateau look, looks very good with contemporary clean lines and most suited to a renovated industrial space. It also has an effect on the light making it softer, diffused.

Some would say it is safe, I would say it is good taste. Some materials are particularly suitable for this color: wood, brick, stones, metals and glass. Its best fabric companion is linen.

And there is the fantastic blog: Greige Design

Rough Linen

Vosgesparis has a gorgeous giveaway this week, a rough linen duvet cover from Rough Linen.

Described as a summer cover: " a summer cover is somewhere between a sheet and a bed spread - just what you need for summer nights"

Linen is one of my favorite materials, strong, absorbent, versatile, an ancient textile that has been cultivated since the Egyptians used it. Where is it best used, shirts, suits, dresses, table ware and most definitely for bedding.

See Vosgesparis to have a chance to win one of these beautiful summer covers:
